For a many years I have been looking for no frills, low cost entry level student instruments that we could sell as an alternative to rental instruments. The Barclay trumpets valve assembly have an excellent quality nickel plated light weight valve action, very good fit of all the tuning slides including an adjustable 3rd valve expression slide with stop, which is usually only found on advanced tumpets, a very good quality 7C mouthpiece, excellent quality finish, very nice molded hard case and most important of all very good ease of blowing performance and tone.
