Lynx Transducers EMD Force Series
The Lynx Transducers EM Force Series has been designed to be a high fidelity acoustically transparent window for live musical performances. Whether you play Bass, Guitar, Keyboard or use it for a Full Range Sound Reinforcement system, the response curve of the midrange and treble can be adjusted to the appropriate levels required by each mode of operation. Lynx Transducer systems have been designed to operate at extreme power levels with out the coloration and distortion found in other systems. The Lynx EM Force Series consists of a stackable 4x10" top with a 1x15" bottom cabinet. The top has 4 10" Eminence Delta 10" drivers, and a HPT Super Horn tweeter used with Lynx Transducers "ISO Linear" crossover system. The 4x10 performing alone is in a class by itself as a standalone bass / full range cabinet. The 4x10 delivers a highly defined tight punchy bass line with transparent tonality and silky smooth harmonic overtones free of speaker coloration.
The union of an acoustically matched sub-bass cabinet with the 15" Eminence Kilomax 1000 Watt RMS driver operated in the "step down mode" ads the "ultra fat" bottom end that gives you the foundation of low frequency sound you can really feel. Note: The "step down mode" of operation is where we tune the bass reflex ports to .7 Fs and use + 6dB of bass boost at the amplifier to compensate for the roll off. This mode of tuning will deliver the lowest octave the drivers are capable of producing without requiring a cabinet twice the physical size. (See the Electro Voice technical docs on their web site). The result of this balanced combination enables you to articulate every nuance of your music and deliver the finest performance possible without having to compromise or "fight" with the system to get what you want. You get all of this and a fail-safe Powermax driver protection system which gives you a design with the ultimate combination of complete live performance reliability, extremely efficient clean high level SPL and transparent musical expression that no other system in this category has ever offered.
Powermax System
The Lynx Transducers "Powermax" protection system is an industry first. Unlike other protection systems, fuses, circuit breakers, light bulbs, etc. The "Powermax" system monitors the system power applied to each cabinet and will selectively insert additional fixed resistance into the affected cabinets driver circuit to reduce the applied power by 1/2 during an accidental overload. The cabinet continues to operate but at a slightly reduced volume (-3dB) during the overload. The "Powermax" power limiting approach maintains the response linearity of the cabinet, unlike the low cost "light bulb" approach, some of the other manufactures use in their designs, which ads noticeable distortion to the sound when overloaded. Once the overload has been cleared the Powermax system will automatically reset to normal operation after a brief cooling off period. The bottom line is this: Accidents happen from time to time. The "Powermax" driver protection system gives your expensive drivers the ultimate protection against an accidental overload that would destroy other systems or render them "dead" during a performance. The "Powermax" system also incorporates a passive 12 dB / octave 20 Hz high pass filter for protection against dropped microphones and sub-sonic resonance feedback that can damage ported drivers by exceeding the speakers Xmax (Maximum mechanical excursion limits) at extremely low frequency's.
ISO Linear Crossover
The Lynx Transducers "Linear X" Unified Crossover solves one of the most difficult problems in passive crossover design: The effect of driver impedance changes due to frequency, power dissipation impedance change and power compression effects of a given set of drivers operating at very high power levels. With this design the effect of a driver's impedance cannot change the relationship of the Linear X high / low pass filter. The only effect an impedance shift has on the "Linear X" crossover is that it will either raise or lower the crossover frequency a small percentage depending on the net direction of the impedance shift of the drivers. The relationship of the crossover slope for the low / high pass filter remains constant with each other. The end result is there are no peaks or valleys at the crossover point. This design yields a linear crossover point transfer. Since the circuit uses a set of "Unified" components the phase relationship between filters also remains constant. The Lynx "Linear X" is the only passive crossover on the market with this unique design.
Each cabinet is rated under EIA 426A specifications (1000 Watts of pink noise with a 4,000 Watt (+6dB) peak crest factor for 8 hours). To put it another way, the system can run with a strong unclipped 1,000 watt RMS amplifier pushing the peak lights on, (as most sound systems are usually operated), non stop all day long! The combined system's frequency response is 43 Hz to 20 kHz + or - 3dB, 25 Hz to 20 kHz when operating in the tuned port "step down" mode. Overall System SPL (Sound Pressure Level) is extremely efficient @ 107 dBm @ 1W/1M. The dimensions of the 4x10 and the 1x15 cabinet's are: 25"x25"x14". Input and loop Connectors for the 4x10 cabinet are: 2 Neutrik Speakon NL4MP's and 2 1/4" connectors, Sub-bass Cabinet: Same as 4x10 plus a 100 Hz crossover output with a Neutrik Speakon NL4MP connector. System impedance is 8 Ohms. Recommended amplifier power is: 400 to 1,000 Watts RMS @ 8 Ohms / per system or cabinet if bi-amped.
