Lynx EVM 412
WARNING: Lynx Transducer systems are capable of producing extremely high sound
pressure levels that can cause hearing impairment if used improperly.
The Lynx EVM series uses 4 Eminence Drivers for an unequaled transparent sound free of distortion and coloration when performing at "live" concert levels.
The addition of the HPT Horn Super Tweeter and the Lynx "Linear X" crossover (see below) along with an adjustable response controls allows the use of the EVM Series as a selectable Bass, Guitar, or Full Range Keyboard speaker depending on which mode you choose to operate the cabinet in.
The Lynx EVM cabinet has many great features beside the sound. Starting with the "Powermax" driver protection system, (see below). The cabinets have a reinforced structure with acoustic dampening which cuts down unwanted harsh resonance, recessed double Neutrik Speakon NL4MP and 1/4" input/output jacks that protect the speaker connection and allows daisy chaining of additional cabinets, heavy duty recessed steel handles for exceptional durability and heavy gauge steel grills to protect the drivers from "accidents". For professional appearance and durability, the cabinets are protected with a high-grade charcoal carpet that will last for years. The cabinets have interlocking ABS corners for stacking on top of another Lynx 4x12 cabinet.
The Lynx Transducers "Powermax" protection system is an industry first. Unlike other protection systems, fuses, circuit breakers, light bulbs, etc. The "Powermax" system monitors the system power applied to each cabinet and will selectively insert additional fixed resistance into the affected cabinets driver circuit to reduce the applied power by 1/2 during an accidental overload. The cabinet continues to operate but at a slightly reduced volume (-3dB) during the overload. The "Powermax" power limiting approach maintains the response linearity of the cabinet, unlike the low cost "light bulb" approach, some of the other manufactures use in their designs, which ads noticeable distortion to the sound when overloaded. Once the overload has been cleared the Powermax system will automatically reset to normal operation after a brief cooling off period. The bottom line is this: Accidents happen from time to time. The "Powermax" driverprotection system gives your expensive drivers the ultimate protection against an accidental overload that would destroy other systems or render them "dead" during a performance. The "Powermax 1" system also incorporates a passive 12dB / octave 20 Hz high pass filter for protection against dropped microphones and sub-sonic resonance feedback that can damage the drivers by exceeding the speakers Xmax (Maximum mechanical excursion limits) at extremely low frequency's.
The Lynx Transducers "Linear X" Unified Crossover solves one of the most difficult problems in passive crossover design: The effect of driver impedance changes due to frequency, power dissipation impedance change and power compression effects of a given set of drivers operating at very high power levels. With this design the effect of a driver's impedance cannot change the relationship of the Linear X high / low pass filters. The only effect an impedance shift has on the "Linear X" crossover is that it will either raise or lower the crossover frequency a small percentage depending on the net direction of the impedance shift of the drivers. The relationship of the crossover slope for the low / high pass filters remains constant with each other. The end result is there are no peaks or valleys at the crossover points. This design yields a linear crossover point transfer. Since the circuit uses a set of "Unified" components the phase relationship between filters also remains constant. The Lynx "Linear X" is the only passive crossover on the market with this unique design.
